Guest Post for Rachna Parmar - In defense of Men

Any more of this and I shall start believing that I am an immensely popular blogger myself. Again I have the privilege of writing for another truly immensely popular blogger - Rachna Parmar. Like all the others who have hitherto carried my guest posts, she has so many nice things to say about me that I am having difficulty recognizing myself in the description.

For her, I thought I would do a bit of defending of the male sex after all the bashing and battering they went through on International Women's day. How effective my defense was you can check out in the link below

  2. Back here after reading the post :)

You have raised very valid questions and I totally agree that there are good men, out there who have suffered along with women.

There are men who love their wives, stand up for them if they are treated wrongly and then suffer the consequences of a strained relationship with their parents, forever. I know a few in real life. And it equally sucks.

Perfect world is an illusion. But, if we understand a tiny little truth that all we want is to be happy and peaceful, it would become a little easier for both men and women.

I feel if Indian parents, and society understand a small reality that a married couple is a small unit in itself, and leave them at that - without poking their noses in the couple's day to day business, the problem could be solved. But given the gossip mongering nature of people, I don't see that happening any soon.

    Great post!

    1. All I am hoping for is a bit more understanding from women of why men find it difficult to be fair to them even when the men want to :)

    1. How wonderful to hear from you, Radhika! I lived a floor below Shesh in the IIM hostel, so hv seen you. And, for some time now, it has been 'Shesh and Radhika' for me - since your evolved man signs himself off like that on our e-group. So, it is almost as if I know you from long.

Great to hear that you enjoy my write-ups.

    2. But Shesh never lived in the hostel...are we talking of the same evolved man?

    3. He practically lived in F-Block Top Floor in R. Suresh's or R.Venky's rooms :) If my memory serves me right you visited there a few times. If it is the same Shesh - then it is the same evolved man :)

  7. Great Suresh .. Just left a comment on Rachna's .. muster courage and see .. after all your own courage, I presume arises from being 'single, un-employed and self sufficient' ! With such a men (and like women) following, I am sure that nation's intellectual energies (I mean 'TV Discussions) would soon focus on an Men's Day.

On Rat Catchers turning 'Butter fly chaser', MAB3a should be encouraged with soon to be changed 'middle age' status.

  8. read the post suresh and I completely agree with you ! for once why can't we treat men and women as just men and women and criminals as just that - criminals ! believe me it pained me a lot when I read about 'Nirbhaya' but it eqally pained me when I read about a woman who killed innocent 5 years old.
Most of my good/best friends have been men ...and er ...uhmmmm...I have always maintained "what guys can do girls can do better ;) " Jokes apart most of the men(almost all) I have known are nice ...sweet ...
and btw we do have mens day as well....http://tomatotwist.blogspot.in/2012/11/happy-mens-day-belated.html

    1. Unless someone is too lost in Sexist rhetoric they do not blame an entire sex for the crimes of a few. And, for me, painting the entire sex as criminals actually makes it easy for the real criminal to hide himself in the crowd.

Maybe you women can do everything that a man can do and better, TTT, but it beats me why you should want to :) I have been trying to escape all those ludicrous chores, dress codes and all and I find it surprising that people who are encouraged not to do all that feel the need to wade in and do those things :)
